“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
Giving is the act of sacrificing a want, for another’s need; Giving is the act of God.
There are many different objects you can give to another. These can be tangible or intangible. A physical object can be gifted to a family member; time can be gifted to your friend who needs a listener. There is no better remedy for the soul than giving a tangible or intangible gift to someone you love.
It is harder not to give than it is to give.
This is a common misconception, as to majority of eyes gaze at money. When it comes to giving, even complimenting a stranger may be more important in their lives than currency. Listening and understanding a peer’s rant can be more important to them than having spending money. You must understand someone’s needs, to than provide them a “want” that you currently own.
Jesus gave humanity the ultimate need, sacrificing his want for life, to fulfil our needs of eternal life.
“A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.” – Proverbs 15:13
When one has learned the importance of fixing the internal, then the external light will shine brighter in the eyes of the lost. Giving someone kind words, forcefully boosted by the Holy Spirit, will allow for a stranger to understand the importance of the power that is driving you. They will understand Christianity better this way, than if you showed your brilliance of bible verses.
Do not rush to the second step of Christianity, build the base of actually BEING a Christian, and shining your light.
One cannot understand Christianity, if they do not understand how, it truly shapes a person. If you have not used Christianity to shape yourself into an energetic machine of positivity, then you cannot reach a person’s heart with words alone. You have not proved anything if the words you share have not affected you in some way. We are all spiritual beings; we have a keen sense of genuine from not. Allow your internal gift of progressing to the Lord, to shape your energy through giving to others.
Not through words, but through actions.
“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” – Acts 20:35
Normally, a person would rather give than receive; they ultimately feel better making someone else’s day better, rather than making their own day brighter. One can appreciate another person’s gift, which in return allows for the receiver to give. Imagine a well-oiled machine of everyone giving to one another; Do you think one would care about politics or the news?
Looking at the quote, God made us more susceptible to giving than receiving and allowed for giving to be the most powerful “gift” of the soul. When you sacrifice money or time for another person, and see their reaction of this gift being unraveled, you yourself get flooded with the holy spirit. Giving makes your day brighter, because it took self-sacrifice to create the emotion in the first place.
The energetic combination of sacrifice and joy, results in spiritual tranquility.
You do not care about three dollars, but three dollars turns into coffee for a stranger. You do not like French fries, but the homeless will eat anything at this point. You do not care about the old sports cards, gathering dust in the garage, but the six-year-old just created his own baseball role model. You do not care about hugs, but your family just cried in your arms due to stress.
It is not about what you want or how you feel, it is about what others need.
Jesus was THE giver, THE shepherd, and THE light. When this is understood, and one chases Jesus, others will become conscience and follow along the same path.
