Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. – Romans 12:11-12
In this post, I will be describing techniques in which you can regain that “on fire for the Lord,” spirit. You will be able to readily apply these techniques into your daily life. If applied correct, you will exuberate confidence in yourself, as well as confidently serve others. I have been inspired to make this post, as nothing grieves me more than a sad, burnt-out Christian.
You are probably sick of seeing this heading in my blog posts, and I do not blame you. However, this is how much I value prayer in my life and the unreasonable power it has to channel energy and goodwill to yourself and others. When you are able to find prayer and scripture in your mind before anything else, then you know you have full belief in its power.
A good way to apply a prayer thought, is to thank God for a co-owned need that aligns with God’s will. For example, I will thank God for giving me transformational words. I do not ask God for transformational words; I thank God for giving them to me. Transformational words are automatically aligned in God’s will, as words can help fuel the spirit of another. Which allows God to work and convert.
I knock on the door, and God opens it.
When you believe in prayer as mentioned in Matthew and Mark, the fire inside yourself will be relit. You will start to believe in your personal zeal. Praying allows for yourself to go into a meditative state, which will give you the fruit of the spirit. And most importantly, prayer will give you belief in your skills to do God’s will.
Thank God every day for giving you a certain talent or skill that allows you to have the confidence to be on fire for the Lord.
As iron sharpens iron, so does one brother sharpen another. When one falls, the other is there to pick them up.
Solomon speaks continuously about this, psychologists have proved this, and businessmen all agree: That you must surround yourself with people that you want to be like.
In my book, Using History in Your Daily Life, I go way more in-depth about this principle. However, I will give you a short synopsis of this essential principle. Subconsciously, your mind picks up and mimics habits in an environment. To put it short, if you are around negative you will become negative; if you are around positive you will become positive.
A smart man once said, in which I have no idea who, that you can guess the net worth of someone by their friends. This is an important thought, as it plays into the iron sharpens iron verse that the wisest man once said. People on fire for the Lord, the ones who will give you truth over flattery, are the ones you must seek.
When you surround yourself with people on fire for the Lord, you will become such.
Love them or hate them, books allow you to become smarter and more confident in your abilities. Whether it is the Good Book or Aquinas, books open your eyes to different perspectives and ways of thinking. Books have personally changed my life, and they will change yours as well. According to Blinkist Magazine, 85% of self-made millionaires read two books a month. Another source, Scarlet Society, claims that Warren Buffet spends 80% of his day reading, along with Bill Gates reading 50 books a year.
Have I convinced you to start reading yet?
If you say that you do not have time to read, you do. You have time for anything you truly want to do. It is just a matter of opening the page, or writing that blog, or reaching out to whoever. If I ever find myself saying I do not have time for something, I will immediately rebut myself by asking, “Oh, but I had time to scroll on TikTok for 15 minutes?”
I have time, you have time; we must sacrifice non-essentials for essentials.
Books do not give you a step-by-step process on how to become better, rather, it gives you confidence and zeal to get what you desire. A combination of books will give you a perfect storm, allow you to think, and allow for bold implementation.
Swinging back to the Good Book, memorizing scripture allows for you to fall back on God’s word whenever needed. Running scripture in your head defends off negative attacks and allows you to embrace positivity. The divine poetry electrifies your soul and grants you the armor of God and the sword of the spirit.
Try and memorize one bible verse a day, I promise it will change your life. If you choose not to read, at least memorize a sentence of God’s word.
No matter the age, the fire of God is in you. You must draw it out through active transformation and spiritual techniques to get what you desire. If you do not want to change, you will not change. If you are around negative people, you will not release this fire.
Billy Graham once preached to 1.1 million people.
Sometimes it takes a little, yet tough, nudge from God or people to activate this fire. According to Paul in 1 Corinthians 3:16, the spirit of God dwells in us. If we do not seek to activate this, we will not be fulfilled nor joyful.
Activate the fire today, take a chance, and give victory to the Lord.
