Using History In Your Daily Life

As you can lead a horse to water but cannot force it to drink, sometimes you must plant a Jesus seed, and let the Holy Spirit intervene and water it. Us Christians that strive for conversion and conversations, sometimes deal with the stubborn and comfortable types. The ones who do not want to change their ways or find that it may be an uncomfortable leap of faith. Sometimes prayer is better than conversation.
In this post, I will be explaining how to deal with a person of Christian doubt, and how to create the strongest impact on them to enable a Christian conversion.
First, you must humble yourself before the Lord. This is the beginning of all wisdom, fearing the Lord and understanding that you need him to work in your life. You cannot traverse daily by yourself. When you release the feeling of indirect pride which comes with conversing to someone about Christ, it allows for a more peaceful experience. Every fleshly part of your being wants to beat them along the side of the head to follow Jesus.
But you must understand it is the spirit that converts, not you.
When we are able to humble ourselves before the Lord, become active listeners, and create a personable and relatable conversation about Jesus, that is when the Holy Spirit has room to work. Praying for said person every day after an initial conversation is the “closer” coming in the 9th inning to win the game.
You hit the home run, now allow your closing pitcher to get the save.
I used to have a prideful stance to such conversations, as I put pressure on myself to create a conversion. I knew that I was right, and had found truth, and was scared to say the wrong thing in an attempt to get someone to Christianity. Then finally, I humbled myself before the Lord and truly understood that it is in his hands and not mine.
When you get to this point on leaning on God to work in someone’s life, the world is finally lifted off your shoulders.
Sometimes the best way to get someone to Jesus is to use common ground to lead someone there. If someone loves history and war, you can tell them to read about King David and Paul, which opens the door to the Bible’s truths. If someone loves philosophy, lead them to Solomon’s words in the Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. If someone loves a conspiratorial prophecy, lead them to the rabbit hole of Revelations and the coming future of life.
Talking to someone about Jesus with no common ground or understanding of each other is going to decrease your chance of gaining a listener and implementor.
Understanding that human nature does not like to change their mind or their life is a good foundational principle for religious conversation. The more directly you show that you are trying to change someone’s way of thinking, in a subconscious defensive measure, they will repel it more than receive it.
The less you want to do something and the more you hear about it, the even less likely you will end up doing it.
Sales are all about selling yourself and creating a personal, genuine connection. When this is achieved, it is easier to get into the door with whatever your end goal may be. I am not saying to do this unethically, rather fulfill their needs after this relationship is established.
This need is objective truth and eternal life.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10
We are all born with unique talents and certain skills that we must show the world. It is a shame to bury these talents, as God wants us to inspire the nations through His word. The Holy Spirit can be guided through your prayers, and open-mindedness can be given through your skills and talents.
You must understand that you are not good enough on your own, and that you need God in your life, as well as the other person’s life.
Lord, I pray whoever is reading this gives their day to you and relinquishes all stress and worry. You, God alone, must work in their life and the non-Christians life, as we can open the door, but you close it. I pray that you give tranquility to the reader, and goodwill to all the people we want to see in Heaven. Send me to spread the word and stand up for it. Allow us to be messengers of your truth and word. Amen.
The people you care about in this mortal world, need to be immortalized in Jesus Christ. Strive to learn the foundational theology of Jesus, so you are able to graciously show His love. Pray like you believe He can do miraculous things. Go out into the “wilderness” and do not fear the world.
Converse with the ones you love and allow the Holy Spirit to convert the ones that will not be going to the same place as you after death.
