How to Overcome Death: The Beauty of Eternity

The only thing guaranteed in life is death. The Gods’ envy us because we are mortal, and any moment might be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we are doomed. Death is random, dispassionate, fair to rich and poor alike.

So, how do we overcome the fear of death, and the loss of loved ones?

Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.'” – John 11:25-26

The Beauty of Eternity

I had the privilege of talking to a previous co-worker about her experiences with loss. I am very fortunate in my life to not have gone through loss to such a degree as others, so I wanted to hear her first-hand experience.

And as she got to talking, I got to listening.

She explained how personal loss is difficult, and that a grieving period is needed. However, she relied on her faith in Jesus Christ, and the knowledge of knowing her parents were saved, to allow herself to know that they are in paradise. She understands that every day on this beautiful Earth is another day closer to seeing her parents again.

And this fills her day with peace, not depression.

Her perspective on death was so fascinating to me, and it is something I will never forget. Although we do not have the loved one on Earth anymore, we know for certain that we will reunite with them in the kingdom of heaven.

We know that our trials and tribulations that we experience throughout life will matter, as we will be with Jesus eternally.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:38-39

Death is Beautiful

Do not fear death, as it is a beautiful thing.

It is what makes life worth living in the first place, as the memories and experiences can only truly matter with an inevitable end. That any decision we make can have the thrill of being our last and bringing us one step closer to our savior.

One cannot truly live without death.

To think death is beautiful is to not think life isn’t. Both death and life can be loved as a co-ownership. Loving the present life, you live now, while seeing death as a gift from God.

Oh, how miserable life would be without death, just as one cannot know the light without the dark.

Death should empower you to take action, as you never know when the day will come. But it will. You should be driven by emotions that surround life and death, and stand up for what you believe in. Regret nothing, as one day you will come to pass. If one day we will end up in the ground, then I will make this short life worthwhile. There is no point in not, as we all return to the same place either way.

Understand that Jesus gives you eternal life, and that death is beautiful. Do something with your life, as death does not wait for anyone.

In a little while the world will see Me no longer, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. – John 14:19
