“You cannot be much without being conscious, but you cannot be gracious without being present.” – Me
In Christianity, in Stoicism, you read the teachings of being content and grateful; Rich or poor, slave or free, consumer or producer. There are many questions that can circulate from these parables and teachings:
Shall I have no drive, no ambition?
How can I be grateful when I have nothing?
The triple entente of life is consciousness, fulfillment, and being present. All good things stem from this triangle, whether it’s the fruits of the spirit or personal virtue. When this triangle is practiced and obtained, you will become grateful for the little things. A hot shower, the animal pyramid, predator-prey, hunter-gatherer, natural elements, versatility of water.
When you live in the feeling of needing a want, you cannot be grateful nor fulfilled. When you live for the weekend, you cannot be conscious nor present. When you live for the noon clock to hit 5 p.m., you cannot be purposeful nor powerful.
All good stems from the life triangle.
Gratefulness turns into joy, winning you the little battles. Accomplishing gratefulness will allow you to be just a little happier in a “big-box store” life. The job you work is a graduate’s dream as the corporate door slams in their face. The family you have created or stemmed from is a dream for the man who is infertile with no family branches. A community is a dream for the old man who lost his wife and despises life.
There was a one and gazillion odds for you to be born, and you are going to suffer in your own pity? Not fight for your ancestorial being? Not inhale sharply while looking at the sun?
There is no reason for you not to be gracious in today’s life unless your eyes are looking at Medusa.
